What started small with a personal contact grew into a fascinating project that expresses the social, connecting power and essence of art in multiple ways.

Stories Imagined

At the request of Maastricht UMC+, the Art Week Foundation initiated a collaboration with the Zuyd Art Academy in early 2025. Under the title "Stories Imagined," young artists will work with palliative patients to create works of art depicting life and farewell.

These artworks will be exhibited during the fair and on Saturday evening, Sept. 13, there will be an auction with artworks provided by participating artists for Support Casper.

In this way, the Verhalen Verbeeld project illustrates perfectly not only how making art but also looking at art has a connecting and even healing power, but in addition a financial value that can be used for a good cause.

Support Casper

Every year, 3,000 Dutch people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, this number is still increasing. Every day, 8 to 10 people die of pancreatic cancer in the Netherlands. This makes the disease the second deadliest form of cancer in our country. Prof. Casper van Eijck, a specialist at Erasmus MC for 30 years, has made it his mission to find a treatment for the disease.

The Surviving with Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (SOAK) has been running the "Support Casper" campaign since 2015 to fund groundbreaking research and draw more attention to pancreatic cancer. The goal is to provide affordable treatment to every patient by 2030 at the latest. Meanwhile, a team of scientists is working hard, funded by the Foundation. And with results: viro- and immunotherapy appear promising.

The auction

An auction for charity (Support Casper) will be held during the EuropArtFair on Saturday evening, September 13, from 6:30 p.m. onwards.
